Form GST-SRM-I is now live on the portal!

GSTN issued an update on 16th May 2024 that the facility to register the machines has been made available on the GST Portal to file the information in Form GST SRM-I.

This form is applicable for manufacturers of Pan Masala and Tobacco taxpayers and is compulsory w.e.f. 15th of May, 2024.

Information from manufacturers of Pan Masala and Tobacco taxpayers

The government had issued a notification to seek information from taxpayers dealing in the goods mentioned therein vide Notification No. 04/2024 – Central Tax dated 05-01-2024. Two forms have been notified vide this notification namely GST SRM-I and GST SRM-II. The former pertains to the registration and disposal of machines while the latter asks for information on inputs and outputs during a month.

To begin with, the facility to register the machines has been made available on the GST Portal to file the information in Form GST SRM-I. All taxpayers dealing in the items mentioned in the said notification may use the facility to file the information about machines. Form GST SRM-II will also be made available on the portal shortly.

How to file Form SRM-I on the portal?

  • Go to www.gst.gov.in and log in using valid credentials.
  • Go to Services and click Returns menu.

  • Click “SRM Forms (Pan masala/Tobacco)”.

  • Select Financial Year and click SEARCH:

  • Form SRM-I will be displayed. Click PREPARE ONLINE:

  • Fill in the applicable tables and submit the form.

Conclusion

The taxpayers manufacturing certain goods are now required to file FORM GST SRM- I, II, and III. Form SRM II is live and other forms will be implemented shortly. Taxpayers shall ensure timely compliance of the same.
